WGPE - Where it started
Founding and Building
In 2014 I followed the hype and purchased my first GoPro Hero 2 and created my first film on this little workhorse. Soon after, friends began to be involved and we created a YouTube channel...'WGPE'. In the initial first few years, we found success with being incorporated into the GoPro and Penny Skateboard 'Young Artist Schemes' where these companies would help mentor me and provide WGPE with filming equipment and skateboards.
Development
With this support and our creative passions, WGPE began to experiment with what we could create, how we could be different from the crowds. So we created videos such as 'Neon Woods', 'The Sick Trike Edit', 'The Sick Kids Bike Edit (1 and 2)' and the 'Field Karting/Carpeting Series'. These particular videos saw us feature on many websites and Facebook pages such as Mpora, Dirt and Extreme and gave us exposure to hundreds of thousands of people.
Recently
'Lines' has been our latest big project that saw us feature on Pink Bikes VOD and 'Movies for your Mondays'. Initially created out of accident, but pursued by ambition, 'Lines' is a series of unique, artistic mountain biking edits spanning the length of a day. Featuring riders Joe Barnwell, Ethan Brown and Andy Nelson.
"Given the different experiences of the riders, we see a unique calmness in each shot – a stark contrast to the usual quick, sharp ‘shredits’ the mountain bike scene is so normally saturated by.
The various weather and light conditions that can be seen in the film pushed those involved to improvise and adapt to the forces of nature. From filming in complete darkness to riding in flash floods, Lines truly was about finding calmness in even the most challenging scenarios." - An extract from Ethan Browns Blog on 'Lines' (See link below):
